Performance and Efficiency

The Encore GX definitely has an edge on the Performance front because it offers more powertrain options. The base Encore GX’s 1.2-liter turbocharged engine delivers 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. It has an available 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that produces 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The Encore features a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque.

Both models offer roughly the same level of fuel economy. The Encore The Encore gets up to 25 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway with its standard engine while the 1.2 liter Encore GX offers 28 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The 1.3 liter option on the Encore GX offers the best mileage of all three with 30 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway with the standard front-wheel drive. Both models have the option of an all-wheel-drive system that will, of course, bring the efficiency down a little.
